Identification code for child
Child identification code
Why might a child need an identification code and can he get one? A child can be assigned a taxpayer account number and, accordingly, a document (certificate) on his assignment will be issued. Next, we consider the main features of the child identification code in more detail.

When a child needs an identification code (tax number)

But why then to a minor an identification code if the child does not have independence for all such actions? In some cases, the child can still be a participant in civil relations, through legal representatives (usually parents) or in person. Some cases:
  • Passport issuance from 14 or 16 years old;
  • Admission to a university or other educational institution;
  • Inheritance;
  • Acceptance of property (mainly real estate) as a gift;
  • Obtaining alimony;
  • Getting prizes at competitions;
  • Acceptance of sponsorship;
  • Many other cases.
As you can see the identification code (it is the TIN and tax number) is practically necessary and it is better to get it right after the birth of a child, this will greatly simplify life and the identification code will be ready by the time it is needed.

How to get an identification code (tax number) for a child

Obtaining an identification code for a child occurs in different ways, depending on the age of the child. There are three options for obtaining:
  • Up to 14 years + 1 month;
  • From 14 to 16 years old;
  • From 16 to 18 years old.
The order and possibilities of obtaining differ for each age group.

Obtaining an identification code (tax number) for children under 14 years old + 1 month

Until the child is 14 years old + 1 month old, parents can receive an identification code for him. To do this, you will need:
  • Birth certificate of a child;
  • The presence of one of the parents and his passport;
  • A certificate of registration of the child’s place of residence from the demographic register (obtained from the CNAP).

The presence of the child is not required.

At this age, the child can already get a passport. It is assumed that he must do this, therefore, the child can receive the identification code himself, but only if he has his passport. Also, his parents can get the code, but the child’s passport is still needed. If by this age the child still does not have a code, it is highly advisable to obtain an identification code for a child under 16 years of age, otherwise it may be difficult to obtain an identification code from 16 to 18 years old due to the lack of a passport for the child.

  • Passport of the child and his presence (if he receives the code himself);
  • The presence of one of the parents and his passport (if parents receive);
  • A certificate of registration of the child’s place of residence from the demographic register (obtained from the CNAP).
