Apostille
If you first encountered with the term Apostille, then most likely you need to submit documents issued in Ukraine to the appropriate institutions abroad. To submit documents from Ukraine to another country, translation into the language of this country and Legalization is required.
Legalization - is giving legal force to the document from one country (country of issue) to another country (destination country). In practice, Legalization is putting down stamps of the necessary authorities, Ministries, and Embassies on a document. These bodies put stamps after checking the authenticity of the issued document, the authenticity of the seals and signatures of officials on it.

What is Apostille

The Legalization of documents procedure takes a lot of time and is associated with other difficulties, therefore, since 1961, some countries have entered into an international agreement on the replacement of Legalization with Apostille. Apostille is a stamp of the form established in the Hague Convention (see the figure below). Apostille in Ukraine:

An Apostille stamp can be obtained much faster than all stamps for Legalization. In addition, to obtain an Apostille, it is enough to apply to only one relevant authority (Ministry).

Hague Convention. Member Countries

The Hague Convention is a series of international treaties signed in 1961 in the city of The Hague, the Netherlands.

The main international treaty simplifying the legalization of documents is the Hague Convention of 1961.

Ukraine has been a party to the Hague Convention since 2003.

What documents do Apostille put on?

Under the document can be understood:
  • Notarized documents (copies and others);
  • Administrative documents (e.g. marriage and birth certificates, others);
  • Court documents;
  • Documents of the Prosecutor's Office;
  • Documents of Justice;
  • Documents of education (certificates, diplomas and others;
  • Documents issued by other government agencies.

Where to put the Apostille

What government agencies put an apostille on documents? Depending on which authority issued your document, you need to determine to which ministry this authority belongs. Apostille can be placed in the relevant departments of these Ministries.
For example, a marriage certificate is issued in the department of state registration of acts of civil status (RAGS) of one of the departments of justice. This means that the issuing authority belongs to the Ministry of Justice. Consequently, in order to Apostille the Marriage Certificate, one must apply to one of the authorized agencies for affixing the Apostille of the Ministry of Justice.

How much is apostille cost

For affixing the Apostille, the state body will take a state fee of 51.00 UAH.

Other agreements of Ukraine on the recognition of documents

There are other international treaties of Ukraine that abolish the need for Legalization, but before relying on the fact that your document will be accepted without legalization in a specific country, you need to make sure that the agreement between the countries exists and is currently in force.
You can order an apostille for documents on our website yurdopomoga.com.ua.
